- Founded by Cecil Rhodes in 1888, De Beers is one of the finest maisons that specialises in diamond exploration, mining, grading, marketing and retail, and the company was responsible for supplying over 80% of the world’s diamond distribution until the beginning of the millennium. Today, it remains one of the most trusted high jewellers for diamond-set jewels for collectors from all around the world.
- The present example is a limited edition of 500 pieces that features a silver base and illuminated stand embellished by delicate engravings, further ornated with exquisite blue enamel. The hourglass is filled with over 2000 loose diamonds and measures a 10-minute interval. It would not fail to kindle enormous delight as one watches the shimming diamonds float through the hourglass under the blue light.
