This watch (and the next one) are The Armoury's collaborations with H. Moser & Cie. It started with some very fortuitous chance meetings with Bertran and Edouard Meylan, the current leadership of the company. We worked on this design throughout Covid, completing all the work over e-mail and Zoom calls. It takes inspiration from a total solar eclipse, combining an ultra-black dial with a rim of red gold evoking the halo of the sun. - Mark Cho

- 4th December 2021 marked the most recent Total Solar Eclipse that plunged Antartica from a bright summer’s day into a daunting state of complete darkness. A bewitching and impressive spectacle, this is a rare occurrence that only happens every 360 to 410 years, when the centers of the Sun and Moon are precisely aligned.
- In an unprecedented collaboration between H. Moser & Cie and The Armoury, the Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse was conceived, embodying the distinct design codes of the star-crossed houses. Despite coming from different worlds, the independent watchmaker and menswear brand both have a deep admiration for refined craftsmanship and elegance. Drawing from the momentous celestial event, the present model was launched in January 2022 with two references, 1327-1200 and 1327-1201, delivered with stainless steel or pink gold accents.
- Both references sport a stark Vantablack dial that absorbs 99.965% of the light, mirroring the astronomical phenomena of a backlit moon obstructing the sun. The polished flange around the dial, in steel or pink gold as the choice may be, provides a stellar representation of the solar corona. The Breguet hands and subtle indices create an eye-catching contrast to the Vantablack dial, while simultaneously giving a gracefully understated appearance.
- Based on H. Moser & Cie’s Endeavour series, the case of the watch is distinct with scalloped sides and downturned lugs. Downsized at The Armoury’s request to a discreet 38mm diameter, this calamitous piece is made to be worn on any occasion.
- Delivered in “like-new” condition, the present stainless steel Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse with pink gold accents is one of a limited edition of 28 pieces only. Accompanied by its original accessories, this example offers collectors a wonderful chance to become the proud owner of this small, dark and handsome timepiece. The present lot is further delivered a framed unique LABEG WATCHART cardboard artwork of the H. Moser & Cie ref. 1327-1201, made exclusively for The Beauty in Everything auction, dated 20th October 2022.
- For a side by side comparison of the two Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse examples, do not hesitate to turn to the following lot, number 8014, to see the ref. 1327-1200 in full stainless steel livery.
