The Reverso à Éclipse exemplifies the timeless allure of form and function that has made the Reverso a legend. Lead all in-house at Vallee de Joux by master enameller Miklos Merczel, the Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop officially launched in 1996 with a stunning debut: a quartet of miniaturised artworks “The Seasons” by Czech master of Art Nouveau Alphonse Mucha. Since then, Jaeger-LeCoultre recreated iconic European paintings, selecting exquisite works by renowned artists such as Renoir, Klimt, and Botticelli. In an era before metier d'art came into vogue, Jaeger-LeCoultre stood as one of the few maisons capable of such in-house artistry.

This exceptional example hails from an exclusive series of only eight watches entitled “Famous Nudes” from 2006. Behind sleek metal “shutters” lies a hidden treasure - a sublime handcrafted miniature scene depicting Impressionist master Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s painting “The Bather”, cloaked until the shutters glide open with a simple turn of the crown at 2 o'clock. This ornate world of imaginative artistry, rendered through meticulous flinqué enameling and engraving techniques, reflects the pinnacle of craftsmanship and ingenuity that Jaeger-LeCoultre is renowned for.

Offered in unworn condition and with only 3 examples of this Reverso à Eclipse “Famous Nudes” in platinum ever made, this remarkable limited edition creation is a sight of beauty for both art and watch connoisseurs.

Jaeger-LeCoultre

Swiss | 1833
Not all companies in the watchmaking field have been able to stand the test of time quite like Jaeger LeCoultre, also known as the "watchmaker's watchmaker." Founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre and originally named LeCoutre, the firm provided watchmaking's top brands, such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet, the high-grade, unfinished mechanical movements with which they completed their watches.

In the early 1900s, Cartier's watch supplier Edmond Jaeger sought out LeCoultre's help in creating the world's thinnest watches. The collaboration resulted in the creation of Cartier's earliest Tank and Santos watches, all housed with LeCoultre movements. The duo decided to merge in 1937, and the firm officially became the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand by which collectors know and adore it today. Some of the firm's most significant and important timepieces include the Reverso, the Memovox, the Atmos clock and, among modern watches, their Master Complications.
