- Designed by renowned industrial engineer Marc Newson, famous for the design of his Lockheed Lounge chair and the Apple Watch, the present streamlined hourglass is remarkably uncomplicated in appearance, yet its construction involves a surprisingly sophisticated process.
- Crafted from a singular piece of glass and skilfully blown by hand in Switzerland by HG Timepiece, the hourglass is filled with countless minuscule metal spheres referred to as nanoballs (around 1.2 million of them) that have been specifically heat treated in proper De Bethune style, resulting in the De Bethune x HG Timepiece Blue Hourglass collaboration.
- More of a sculpture than timekeeper, the present 10-minute hourglass is part of a limited edition of 24 pieces, whilst the bigger 60-minute variation is limited to 12 pieces.
