The acclaimed designer and jeweler - Michele Della Valle began designing custom jewellery at the age of 16. Reinterpreting classic jewellery iconography through the medium of vibrant precious gemstones quickly became his signature. Della Valle once said “the stones give birth to the design, and not the other way around”. Nature continues to be his greatest inspiration and the foundational element of his designs.
As illustrated in Lot 595, Della Valle adroitly offers us his take on a flower, juxtaposing a vibrant ‘pigeon blood red’ Burmese ruby with colourless sapphire “petals”. When worn on the finger, the brilliance of the diamonds is striking as the light dances and sparkles with life. Pieces from Della Valle are handcrafted in Geneva from his appointment-only studio, making them one of a kind and highly sought-after among an elite international coterie of collectors.
