The Parmigiani Bugatti 370 was a ground breaking piece when it was launched in 2005 at the same time as the Bugatti Veyron. Like the Veyron in the automobile world Parmigiani's genius creation was like no other. It was the very first wristwatch with a horizontal cylindrical case and movement made to resemble a car engine and visible via opening on the top, sides, under and back of the case.
An incredible watchmaker, Michel Parmigiani designed this movement ground up specifically for this watch. It features a 10-day power reserve indicated via a rotating drum placed on the top of the movement. The watch is a perfect “driver’s watch” and sits horizontally on the wrist. Hours and minutes are displayed on one end of the cylinder, the dial with perlage is a nod to dashboards of automobiles of the 1930s while the other end reveals the balance wheel and escapement.
The watch furthermore does not have a crown for winding or setting time, these are done via a tool that has to be inserted into the specific grooves in the back of the case.
Limited to only 50 pieces in this configuration, the Parmigiani Bugatti 370 is one of the most innovative, avant-garde and fascinating watches of its era.
The present watch is being sold to benefit The One Drop Foundation, a charity striving to provide safe drinking water to all communities.
