Released in 1961, the Patek Philippe ref. 3445 was the first self-winding wristwatch with a date function produced in series by the firm. Cherished by collectors due to its stylistic case design and its practicality, the ref. 3445 is one that can be worn under the cuff in the boardroom or during the weekend in a casual manner.
Over its course of production, the reference was produced in a total of three series from 1961 to 1981 across all four precious metals. While its aesthetics for the first and second series remained widely unchanged, the third series of the reference featured a higher bezel, an upgraded sapphire crystal and a display caseback.
The present example Patek Philippe ref. 3445 in white gold from 1964 belongs to the first series identifiable from its movement number in the range of 1.12 million. Presented in excellent overall condition with a desirably sharp case with crisp hallmarks, it is further delivered with a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the production of the present timepiece.

Patek's complicated vintage watches hold the highest number of world records for results achieved at auction compared with any other brand. For collectors, key models include the reference 1518, the world's first serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph, and its successor, the reference 2499. Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
