Patek Philippe’s reference 130 stands as one of the most versatile chronograph models ever created by the esteemed brand. Produced from 1936 to 1964, this model is primarily encased in yellow gold, with fewer examples crafted in pink gold, stainless steel, and the exceptionally rare steel and gold configuration. The dials varied throughout its production, showcasing a range of designs including tachymeter, sector, and pulsations scales. This reference masterfully define the sporty elegance of a chronograph, achieving a balance between classic understatement and exquisite craftsmanship. It was a favored choice upon its release and continues to captivate nearly a century later. By the 1930s, the increasing demand from discerning clients prompted Patek Philippe to introduce the caliber 13-130, utilizing the Valjoux chronograph caliber 13’’.
The present model, encased in pink gold, dates to 1945, as confirmed by the Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives. It is presented in excellent condition, featuring strong hallmarks on the caseband and behind the lugs. A confirmation letter indicates that it was sold on 25th of May, 1946 at Freccero & Co.
Patek Philippe’s vintage chronograph wristwatches are highly coveted by collectors, and the reference 130 is particularly desirable for its understated elegance and exceptional movement quality.
