Arguably one of the most timeless and elegant time-only references ever created by Patek Philippe, it is impossible not to adore the ref. 2526. Introduced to the market in 1953, this legendary reference is the brand’s first automatic wristwatch powered by the celebrated cal. 12-600 AT, which is considered as one of the finest self-winding movements ever made in the history of watchmaking.
The present example is a “first series” off-white enamel dial featuring the recognizable flared enamel surrounding the top and bottom of each hour marker, as well as around the centers of the hour, minute, and seconds hands. The movement is stamped “HOX” indicating the watch was destined for the United States, and this is further confirmed by the crisp 18K gold hallmark on the caseback, another feature found on watches exported to the States.
With a well-preserved dial, it is a stunning example of a ref. 2526 featuring the qualities that attract connoisseurs today. Its easy wearability and iconic design make this an exceptional wristwatch for any collector who appreciates a timeless classic.
