Among Patek Philippe's most revered creations, the World Time lineage has captivated collectors since its debut in the 1930s. In 2000, Patek unveiled the modernized ref. 5110, featuring a patented mechanism for effortless time zone selection, along with a guilloché dial that exudes mesmerizing depth and sophistication.
From 2000 onwards, special editions of the ref. 5110 World Time were released, showcasing particularly interesting and sometimes unique location or time zone dials. Notable examples include the emerald green “Mecca”, as well as editions for Münster, Dubai, Singapore and Taipei, with one city highlighted in a different color upon special request.
The present ref. 5110J is an exclusive example customized for the State of Qatar, with "Doha" luminously displayed in red, a detail further confirmed by the Extract from the Archives. This piece was likely created as a diplomatic gift for visiting officials or dignitaries. For Patek Philippe collectors, it stands as a remarkable testament to the brand's reverence, honoring those who shape global relations.
