The reference 5004 was introduced in 1994, combining a split-seconds chronograph module with a perpetual calendar, enabling simultaneous timing. It was also the first serially produced Patek Philippe perpetual calendar to integrate this complication.

Powered by a Lemania-based caliber, which can be viewed through the sapphire crystal caseback, the reference was crafted in various metals—including pink gold, yellow gold, white gold, platinum, and stainless steel—over its 16-year production span from 1994 to 2010.

With a refined diameter of 36mm, the watch perfectly balances size and aesthetics, sharing design cues with references 3970, 2499, and 1518. Its stepped case is slightly thicker and larger than its predecessors, accommodating the split-seconds complication and giving it a contemporary presence on the wrist. Featuring an oversized crown at the 3 o’clock position and a subtle silvered dial with applied Arabic numerals, this platinum example embodies a harmonious blend of simplicity, modern design, and traditional craftsmanship—a combination that makes it one of the most sought-after and versatile wristwatches.

But this fresh-to-the-market 5004P-001 example is offered with its original Certificate of Origin, an additional solid platinum caseback and presentation box. It is preserved in excellent condition and with the reference gaining significant traction in the auction scene, it has become one of the grails for Patek Philippe collectors looking to acquire a gem for their collection.
