Piaget’s pursuit of ultra-thin calibres opened a new door to creative possibilities during the 60s and 70s. With an energetic explosion of colour expressed through Piaget’s creation from the era, stone dials certainly propelled the brand to a new level. The use of stone dials was first introduced in 1963, lapis lazuli, jade, opal, malachite, tiger’s eye, onyx, you name it, Piaget has got it covered. Paired with infinite possibilities of combination and style, the charm of these exquisite and unique designs were seen on the wrist of Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor and Elvis Presley.
Extremely well-preserved from the era is the present yellow gold pocket watch sized at 38mm diameter. Paired with a minimalistic bullseye appeal thanks to the rich black onyx contrasting to the warmth of yellow gold, three rings of diamonds encircles a subtle feature of this timepiece. Indicating the hour with a single diamond with one minute hand, this is a highly rare mystery pocket watch from the 70s. While such design are seen mostly on wristwatches with integrated bracelet, only a handful of mystery pocket watch with stone dials have surfaced in the market.
Housed within this exquisite pocket watch is the ultra thin manual wind calibre 9P introduced since 1957 with a thickness of just 2mm. Boasting a strong case with crisp hallmark on the caseback and a flawless dial, it also comes with a matching yellow gold diamond-set chain that is ready for its next owner to style it with their own flair.

Piaget
Swiss | 1874Creativity, audacity and know-how are the values that gave Piaget its international reputation and allowed the brand to distinguish itself in the world of fine watchmaking and precision. Founder Georges Edouard Piaget established the company in 1874 and manufactured watch movements. While Piaget is famously recognized today for their elaborate wristwatch and bangle designs, they also mastered the marriage of their high-quality, in-house-produced wristwatches and stunning pieces of jewelry.
Collectors consider the 1970s as Piaget's era of superb creativity and unbounded designs. During this highly creative period, the brand designed an impressive range of cuff and bracelet watches carved in gold and adorned with exotic hard stones. Admired by most as not only jewelry but also true works of art, the firm's hard stone dial watches remain the most iconic, recognizable and desirable among collectors.
