Released towards the end of the 1960s, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 6265 was the last model to feature a manually-wound caliber before Rolex introduced the ref. 16500 series in 1989. Marking an end to an exciting era, the ref. 6265 featured various upgrades from its older models such as the ref. 6239 and 6241. Fitted with a reliable Triplock 702 crown with 302 screwed-down pushers, the waterproof capabilities of the timepiece is further enhanced. Lastly, together with its sister ref. 6263 the upgraded caliber 727 beating at 21,600 vph elevates its level of precision compared to its older caliber 722 beating at 18,000 vph.
The present example Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref. 6265 in stainless steel fitted with a “Big Red” dial in silver with black registers bearing a correct 7.4 million serial number from circa 1983 is certainly a very decent example of the reference. Featuring all period correct parts the present example displaying a well-preserved dial is perhaps the main attraction.

Swiss | 1905Founded in 1905 England by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis as Wilsdorf & Davis, it soon became known as the Rolex Watch Company in 1915, moving its headquarters to Geneva in 1919. Other key collectible models include their most complicated vintage watches, including references 8171 and 6062 with triple calendar and moon phase, "Jean Claude Killy" triple date chronograph models and the Submariner, including early "big-crown" models and military-issued variants.
