Released to replace its predecessor in 1989, the Rolex Explorer II ref. 16570 featured newly upgraded cal. 3185 for earlier productions with later examples bearing the cal. 3186. While adhering to its original design DNA with a solid 24-hour bezel and an additional GMT hand, the ref. 16570 is fitted with a white dial that features luminous indexes with black surrounds instead of white gold as per its predecessor, the ref. 16550. The present reference was produced for approximately 22 years before it was discontinued and made way for the new ref. 216570 in 2011. During its long production run, various luminous materials were used with earlier examples of the reference featuring a “SWISS-T<25” dial with tritium and later examples bearing a “SWISS” with Luminova. The present Rolex Explorer II is a ref. 16570 with an N serial from circa 1995, offered in excellent overall condition with its original guarantee stamped by a Spanish retailer.
