  • Catalogue Essay

Argyle Mine in western Australia has been the most prominent source of pink diamonds in the world since its discovery in the 1980s, yet only an extremely tiny part of the production will result in what is known as 'fancy pink' diamonds. The most exceptional stones are exclusively sold at the highly-anticipated annual event called The Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender, where buyers are admitted only by invitation. The Tender typically features 50 to 60 of Argyle's largest and most richly coloured pink diamonds certified by GIA. This makes up less that 0.01% of the entire annual production, in which the majority are polished stones below 0.50 carat. To put it simply, it would take approximately 15 years to accumulate enough of these precious pink diamonds to fill one champagne glass.

Set on this pair of earrings are two extraordinary Argyle Tender pink diamonds which represents the crème de la crème of Argyle's top grade specimens, fashioned into a shape that signifies eternal love. Heart shapes are notoriously hard to match when it comes to cut and weight, how rare is this pair that are also well-matched in their superb fancy intense pink colour! With limited mine life remaining for Argyle, these rare pink diamonds will only become rarer in time, deeming them covetable not only for diamond connoisseurs, but also collectors and investor
