In her Color Light Bulb series, Amanda Means transforms a utilitarian object into a stunning work of art. Created using a rare 20 x 24 Polaroid camera, Means juxtaposes the bulb’s colored filaments with vibrant backgrounds, highlighting the object’s form and function. Means was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2017 and her work is held in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, among others. Other works from this series are being offered in lots 133, 134 and 138.
