- After beginning his career with Audemars Piguet in the late 1960s and then joining Breguet in 1973, Daniel Roth ventured to starting his own company in 1988 to realize his own design philosophy for his own watch models. As changes to the brand’s ownership fell upon his company in 1995, the period from 1988 to 1995 is often deemed as the golden period by early Daniel Roth collectors.
- In 1990, Daniel Roth released highly sought-after manual chronographs and self-winding time-only models under his own name, which came in an interesting variety of configurations, including in yellow gold, white gold, pink gold and platinum, and were available in both closed and open case backs. The chronograph models were animated by the Lemania 2320 ébauche, that is the famous CH-27 movement.
- As one of the earliest and most iconic models from Roth’s eponymous brand, this Daniel Roth Chronograph is believed to be produced in very small numbers. The present watch numbered 44 is an example from early production, and it perfectly encapsulates the graceful and elegant aesthetics which Roth has adopted from his in-depth study of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s work.
- Encased in a beautifully preserved pink gold double-ellipse case, the Clous de Paris guilloché dial of the present timepiece glimmers in a deliciously intriguing color that shifts between pink, champagne and silver under the flèche blued hands. Without a doubt, this breathtakingly mesmerizing timepiece, further accompanied by box and a Certificate of Origin enshrined with Daniel Roth's handwriting and signature, should not to be missed by any serious watch collectors.
