  • Catalogue Essay

The present De Bethune DB25L is a unique piece featuring a raised sandblasted silver chapter ring with engraved Roman numerals, surrounding the star-studded sky in blued and polished titanium with hand-fitted white gold pins depicting the stars, which shows the customised constellation as seen from the night sky above Jakarta. A special sky certificate depicting the details of the sky chart accompanies the present lot, confirming that the dial is personalised to show the Centaurus and Crux constellation in the southern sky in Jakarta on 15th March 1975.

The movement that powers this beautiful timepiece is equally impressive both in terms of design and finish. It features a power reserve indicator on the case back, a self-regulating twin barrel for better distribution of power, silicon annular balance encircled by a white gold ring, balance spring with flat terminal curve, triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system and silicon escape wheel. Preserved in excellent overall condition and complete with its original accessories, this is a truly splendid opportunity for connoisseurs to acquire a mesmerising timepiece with hypnotic impression of depth and infinity.
