In Erwin Olaf's Royal Blood series, he poses blond models as celebrities whose legacies have all been defined by violent deaths; individuals such as Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, known as Sissi, Julius Caesar and Princess Diana. Constantly pushing the boundaries of taste and acceptability, Olaf here addresses themes of celebrity, violence and the public's insatiable appetite for both. The shock and horror of these 'real' characters paired with the high-gloss, pristine aesthetic of contemporary fashion photography results in images that are at once exquisite and unsettling.
