Faye Toogood - Design London Wednesday, November 13, 2024 | Phillips
  • The present chair was part of Faye Toogood's 'Trade Show', a unique exhibition during London Design Week in 2017 that showcased the work of fifty leading British creatives. By offering one of her signature 'Spade' chairs to each artist in exchange for their contributions, Toogood established a barter system that celebrated the spirit of collaboration and mutual support within the design community.

The exhibition featured a diverse range of works, from furniture and textiles to art and photography. Highlights included contributions from Rolf Sachs, Francis Upritchard, and Assemble. The show also documented Toogood's interactions with each creative and how they incorporated the 'Spade' chair into their own work.

'Trade Show' was a playful and thought-provoking exploration of the value of collaboration and the importance of supporting fellow artists. By fostering a sense of community and reciprocity, Toogood created a truly unique and memorable exhibition.
