Franco Moschino (1950- 1994) was inspired by Dadaism, Conceptual Art and Pop Art in order to create his imaginative fashion designs: “I think fashion is something you can laugh about, but in the end, it’s the most difficult thing to laugh at because people take it so seriously”.
This coat, from his Winter 1989 “Fun Fur” collection, is an iconic piece by Moschino exemplifying his surrealist take on fashion design. The “Teddy Bear” jacket symbolizing the contrasts of a woman: the sex appeal of adult years while not having yet outgrown the innocence of childhood. The dress from the same collection appeared on the cover of Vogue October 1988.
