Gaetano Pesce - Design London Thursday, May 2, 2024 | Phillips
  • The present prototype sideboard was specifically designed for the exhibition 'nobody's perfect' at the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum, Miami, on the occasion of the first edition of the Art Basel Miami Fair in 2002. For the show, Pesce conceived a collection of furniture and lights inspired by the vibrant colours of Miami's Art Deco District, serving as joyful reflections of diversities, emotions and cultures. The sideboard, accompanied by two corner units, were together conceived as integral components of an imposing desk, configured to create an inviting space for visitors. The manufacturer Zerodisegno, in collaboration with Gaetano Pesce, later donated these three pieces of furniture to the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum. The present lot was designed as the prototype sideboard for the work that was ultimately installed and is one of the only two examples of the model ever created.
