‘Warrior’ is very much of it’s time – a memory of Henry Moore’s ‘Fallen warrior’ comes to mind – a kind of faceless and weaponless ‘anti-warrior, but a very powerful image.  In the treatment of the surface (scumbled white slip and copper carbonate) there is an echo of the way in which Paolozzi treated bronze at this time.
