  • Catalogue Essay

Since its first introduction in 1931, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso has become the most iconic model of the established firm. To commemorate its 60th anniversary, a limited series of six models were released within a decade, each incorporating various complications in its iconic reversible case with some examples featuring an additional dial on the reverse to cater towards its fruitful offering of various complications.

The present Jaeger-LeCoultre Géographique features a dual-time complication and a GMT function interpretated in two separate dials. The second dial accurately display time in two zones 12 hours apart, indicated in the two fan-shaped apertures at 6. The time shown on the dial is accompanied by a small day/night indication at 5 o' clock, and a GMT+/GMT- indication at 7. The GMT +/- indication refers to the two cities shown in the fan-shaped apertures, one tagged GMT -, the other GMT +, and indicates to which of them the day/night indication refers.

Limited to 500 examples, the present travel watch numbered 35 from the original owner is preserved in excellent overall condition and complete with its full set of accessories. A perfect timepiece for the dedicated jetsetter, the elegant Reverso Géographique will surely impress the new owner with its practical functionality and iconic looks.

  • Artist Biography

    Jaeger-LeCoultre

    Swiss • 1833

Not all companies in the watchmaking field have been able to stand the test of time quite like Jaeger LeCoultre, also known as the "watchmaker's watchmaker." Founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre and originally named LeCoutre, the firm provided watchmaking's top brands, such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet, the high-grade, unfinished mechanical movements with which they completed their watches.

In the early 1900s, Cartier's watch supplier Edmond Jaeger sought out LeCoultre's help in creating the world's thinnest watches. The collaboration resulted in the creation of Cartier's earliest Tank and Santos watches, all housed with LeCoultre movements. The duo decided to merge in 1937, and the firm officially became the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand by which collectors know and adore it today. Some of the firm's most significant and important timepieces include the Reverso, the Memovox, the Atmos clock and, among modern watches, their Master Complications.
