  • Catalogue Essay

    - The Master Control collection embodies Jaeger-LeCoultre's refined watchmaking tradition. Bringing together classic style and technical prowess, the versatile models feature an array of complications. As the first line to undergo Jaeger-LeCoultre's rigorous "1,000 hour test," Master Control aptly reflects the brand's commitment to precision.

    - Introduced in 1998, the Master Control Geographic stands out for its dynamic yet contemporary elegant design. The present reference is part of the new Master Control collection released in 2020, featuring an updated dial, case size and new-generation of movement offering 70-hours of power reserve.

    - The subdial at 6 o'clock provides an instant readout of the time in a selected world city. To avoid confusion, a day/night indicator accompanies the dual time display. The Geographic also indicates the date and power reserve, masterfully combining complications in a clean aesthetic.

    - With its blend of technical excellence and restrained styling, the Geographic exemplifies the essence of the Master Control collection. The present example from circa 2022 is complete with its full set of accessories and offered in exceptional condition from its original owner.

    Jaeger-LeCoultre

    Swiss • 1833

Not all companies in the watchmaking field have been able to stand the test of time quite like Jaeger LeCoultre, also known as the "watchmaker's watchmaker." Founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre and originally named LeCoutre, the firm provided watchmaking's top brands, such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet, the high-grade, unfinished mechanical movements with which they completed their watches.

In the early 1900s, Cartier's watch supplier Edmond Jaeger sought out LeCoultre's help in creating the world's thinnest watches. The collaboration resulted in the creation of Cartier's earliest Tank and Santos watches, all housed with LeCoultre movements. The duo decided to merge in 1937, and the firm officially became the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand by which collectors know and adore it today. Some of the firm's most significant and important timepieces include the Reverso, the Memovox, the Atmos clock and, among modern watches, their Master Complications.
