Established in the midst of the 18th century, Julien and Pierre Le Roy were both from watchmaking backgrounds with their late father an apprentice at the workshops of Joseph Quêtin since the age of 16. The Leroy brother can be considered as one of the great pioneers of the French watchmaking industry.
The present desk clock is a beautiful and tall rock crystal, gilted brass and scenic agate example manufactured by L.Leroy in circa 2000. The impressive one-piece rock crystal is exceedingly tough to cut as the natural mottling in the crystal can cause the stone to break through its inner fragments. Secured by a gilted brass and scenic agate set base, the mesmeric scenery depicted on each facet that is natural to the stone abstractly depicts an appealing scenic motif.
