Executed in 2013, BIG DICK, BONER and SHOOT THAT MILKSHAKE are all visually striking text-based works by Osaka-born contemporary artist MADSAKI. Praised by fellow Japanese icon Takashi Murakami as ‘bottomless talent’, MADSAKI is widely acclaimed for his grungy works that employ humour as both a distraction and therapy for the artist’s inner emotional troubles. Unveiled at MAD Love in 2015, an exhibition hosted by the Museum of Art & Design, Singapore in conjunction with Singapore Art Week, MADSAKI alongside eight other renowned international artists were invited to create pieces that interpret and recontextualise the extremities of love, sex and desire. Exploring the intensity of love and our perceptions to the subject, the present works distinctively showcase MADSAKI’s witty attitude that forms both his aesthetic and personality. The artist is represented by several prominent international art galleries, including Galerie Perrotin and Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo.
