In recent years, the Nautilus has gained a substantial growth of passionate followers and status as the most iconic Patek Philippe wristwatch still in production today. First introduced in 1976, the Nautilus reference 3700/1A, who was designed by the infamous Gerald Genta at the Basel fair was where the craze originally started. With the inspiration of the case coming from the porthole of a ship, it is inevitable that it carried some similar traits with the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, which also was designed by Genta.
In 2005, the reference 5711 was introduced to the market, bearing much of the general aesthetics from its previous references. The reference was also available in rose gold with a leather strap.
The present example is a reference 5711 in rose gold fitted with a leather strap manufactured in 2008 and further accompanied by the full set of accessories that came with the present watch when it was purchased by the original owner.
