This enigmatic portrait of Björk by Rankin graced the cover of Dazed & Confused in 1995. The era-defining magazine was co-founded in 1991 by the photographer, providing him with the perfect opportunity to develop his playful and irreverent style.

John Rankin Waddell, known as Rankin (b.1966), is a British photographer and director. His work defined the aesthetics of fashion and popular culture in the 1990s and early 2000s, continuing to break new ground today. From provocative shots of Kate Moss to fun-loving images of David Bowie and Kate Winslet, Rankin’s innate gift for connecting with his subjects allowed him to create a stream of memorable portraits. As one of the most in-demand photographers globally, he was invited to photograph Queen Elizabeth II for her Golden Jubilee in 2001. Included in Rankin's extensive accolades is an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Photographic Society in 2002 and the British Photography Awards Fellowship in 2019. His work has also appeared in internationally acclaimed magazines, including GQ, Vogue and Marie Claire.
