  • Catalogue Essay

Gooseneck Loosestrife exemplifies the searingly intimate portrayals of childhood in Sally Mann’s seminal series Immediate Family, taken of her three children at their rural Virginia home between 1984 and 1991. Here, the legs are intertwined and adorned with the elegant arching spike of the gooseneck loosestrife plant. Her first major retrospective, Sally Mann: A Thousand Crossings, travelled internationally from 2018 to 2020.
