With the Five Revolutionary Seconds series, I set out to make photographs in which you created your own structure and narrative whilst working within a different time-frame because you can't physically take in the whole image at a glance... the different time-based aspects of the work are playing against one another. Whatever narrative you construct from the photograph, the photograph is deconstructing... I also think about those photographs as showing different states of being simultaneously... you have the embodiment of all these different states of being within one room. It's like encapsulating one person in one room but within eight different bodies, each one not communicating with the others. It was also about all those different ways of removing and isolating yourself from other people. And all this takes place in five seconds. It's a momentary thing, isolated in time.
