“The image becomes the medium in a way — it becomes a color, a paint, a material you can work with. I called it The Thief because it’s got the white gloves, it’s very thematic, but it’s appropriated, so there’s a bit of a double entendre. If you think of the history of painting and the role of the window, it’s got this organized pictorialism I was already playing with.”
