FEATURING IMPORTANT WORKS BY CATTELAN, CONDO, KIEFER, GUPTA, SERRA, RUBY & VEZZOLI

New York — Phillips de Pury & Company together with the Guggenheim Museum are proud to announce the 2011 Guggenheim International Gala and Contemporary Art Benefit Auction for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The Guggenheim auction will be the first of its kind to be held outside of the Museum and will be an evening sale taking place on November 7 at 6.30pm. The auction has a pre-sale estimate of $1,560,000-2,200,000 comprising 22 important works from leading contemporary artists who have donated their work to benefit the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.

This year we will precede our Part I evening sale with a special auction entirely devoted to raising funds for this great institution. Highlights from the sale include: Maurizio Cattelan’s Others, 2011, featuring eleven taxidermied pigeons estimated at $300,000 – 400,000. George Condo, The Butler, 2011, estimated at $100,000 – 150,000. Anselm Kiefer, Alkahest, 2011 estimated at 200,000-300,000. Subodh Gupta, Cascading Water, 2011, estimated at $150,000 – 180,000. Richard Serra, Untitled, 2011, estimated at $100,000 – 150,000.

Additional participating artists include: Lee Bul, Cai Guo-Qiang, Dan Colen, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Lee Ufan, Nate Lowman, Idris Khan, Bharti Kher, Adam McEwen, Richard Phillips, Rob Pruitt, Sterling Ruby, Doris Salcedo, Francesco Vezzoli, Lawrence Weiner, Christopher Wool and Haegue Yang. This auction will be the first of its kind to be held outside of the Museum.
