Phillips Announces Results from London's Photographs Auction

PHILLPS PHOTOGRAPHS SALE ACHIEVES £1.2 / $1.9 / €1.7 MILLION

AUCTION RECORDS SET FOR ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE’S SELF PORTRAIT, ANDREW MOORE AND A UNIQUE WORK BY MICHAEL DWECK


LONDON– 6 NOVEMBER 2015 – Phillips November Photographs Sale totalled £1,255,275 / $1,908,018 / €1,757,385 selling 74% by lot and 68% by value.

A world record was set for Robert Mapplethorpe’s self-portrait with his 1950s hairdo, the dark leather jacket and a cigarette in the corner of his mouth, where he portrays himself as the quintessential rebel from a bygone era, sold for £98,500 / $149,720 / €137,900.
