NEW YORK – 7 NOVEMBER 2022 – Phillips is pleased to announce the appointment of Joyce Goss as the company’s first Regional Director, Texas. Based in Dallas, Ms. Goss’s appointment is a reflection of the importance of the collecting community in the American South and Phillips’ growth internationally and within the United States.

In her role, Ms. Goss will work to cultivate networks among collectors, dealers, curators, museums, and foundations, across all of Phillips’ collecting categories, including 20th Century & Contemporary Art, Photographs, Design, Editions, Jewelry, and Watches.

Vivian Pfeiffer, Head of Business Development and Deputy Chairman, Americas, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Joyce to Phillips. She is a force in the Texas community with deep and long-lasting ties to this steadfastly important region in the art market. And we have seen that collectors’ interests and tastes here are increasingly aligned to Phillips’ own focus on works of the 20th and 21st centuries. In fact, there was an 85% increase in collector activity in the region from 2019 to 2021. We look forward to working with her in engaging this thriving community of collectors and enthusiasts.”

Ms. Goss’s appointment comes in the midst of an exceptional period of growth for Phillips, with 2021 becoming the most successful year in the company’s 226-year history. The auction house has also demonstrated an ongoing commitment to its collector base in the Americas through its extensive network of representatives and specialists across the country, and with the brand-new outpost in Los Angeles having just opened this month.

Prior to joining Phillips, Ms. Goss served for fifteen years as the Executive Director of The Goss-Michael Foundation. Founded by Kenny Goss and the late music legend George Michael, the Foundation exists to educate, engage and inspire audiences by presenting exhibitions of British contemporary art, and providing vast resources, educational programs, and scholarships to aspiring artists.

Ms. Goss also serves as a Board Chair of the North Texas and Central Region U.S. fund for UNICEF, and serves on The Family Place Foundation Board and Nasher Sculpture Center PAC. She is a former Board Member of Dallas Contemporary, Co-Founder of MTV RE:DEFINE, and she has chaired events for U.S. Fund for UNICEF, Planned Parenthood of North Texas, Dallas Women's Foundation, Dallas Contemporary, and TWO x TWO for AIDS & Art, benefitting the DMA and amfAR among others. She earned her BBA in Finance at the University of Texas at Austin.
