Nina Piro, Specialist, Associate Vice President, said, “Our second annual July auction of Modern & Contemporary Art brought together a wonderful selection of works that spanned the breadth of artistic movements from the past century. Salvador Dalí’s work on paper, Saint Georges et le dragons, led the auction at $222,250, while Marc Chagall’s Les amoureux sur le divan nearly doubled its estimate at $95,250. Examples by Alex Katz performed exceptionally well, with all three of his works figuring prominently in the top ten. The group was led by Nine Women 6 at $114,300, which sold against an estimate of $60,000-80,000. Chantal Joffe’s Ivana also saw spirited bidding with the work ultimately realizing more than five times its estimate at $38,100. We wish our community of collectors a wonderful summer and remind those in New York to visit 432 Park Avenue for our upcoming exhibition Lynne Drexler's Garden: Works from the 1950s-1990s, opening on 25 July.”
