• Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore was the firm’s answer to the ever-changing tastes of contemporary watch collectors. The original Royal Oak was introduced in 1972, in one of the most iconoclastic marketing moves to ever be seen in the industry. The Offshore, introduced in 1993, features a much larger and thicker case dimension and was first released as a chronograph wristwatch with date, navy blue dial, and an integrated bracelet. It was designed to appeal to a younger, modern category of collectors. Today, it is recognized for its distinctive style and crafted with a variety of materials from titanium to ceramic and forged carbon.

• The Offshore reference 26420S0 was released in 2021 along with several new models featuring a 43mm diameter case and the in-house, AP caliber 4401 movement. The present watch has a stainless steel case with black ceramic bezel, push pieces, and screw down crown. The black Mega Tapisserie dial has white gold hour markers and outer tachymeter scale. The watch features Audemars Piguet’s innovative interchangeable strap system and is accompanied by rubber and leather AP straps.

• The present lot is offered in virtually new condition with its factory stickers in place and full suite of accessories.

A specialist in the manufacture of complications since it was established in 1881, Audemars Piguet never ceases to impress with a rich history of creating bold, even audacious, timepieces underpinned by traditional watchmaking at its finest. This Le Brassus-based Swiss manufacturer is one of only two major manufacturers still owned by the founding family. Since its earliest days, AP is considered a leader in the field of minute repeaters and grande complication pocket and wristwatches. The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.


Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
