GOOD TO KNOW
• One of a limited edition of only 7 pieces made for Swiss FineTiming
• Only 1 other example has appeared at auction
• Original owner, full set, and like-new condition
Phillips is honored to offer one of the rarest and most charismatic variants of F.P. Journe’s Octa Chronographe – only the second example ever to appear at public auction. One of the most ephemeral of François-Paul Journe’s creations, at the time of launch in 2001, the Octa Chronographe was the very first chronograph wristwatch with automatic movement to feature a large date display and a flyback chronograph with an impressive 120-hour power reserve.
The model was also the first F.P. Journe model to be discontinued, when it was replaced by the Centigraphe Souverain chronograph in 2007. Produced in two series, the first with the cal. 1300 with brass movement, and the second as seen on the present model, cal. 1300.2 with 18K pink gold movement, it is a wonderful, modern interpretation of the chronograph. The asymmetrical dial, with large time indication to the right side of the dial, is offset by the smaller 60-minute counter to the left side.
Right at the end of its production in 2007, a limited series of only 7 pieces were released, made specifically for Chicago-area retailer Swiss FineTiming. Alongside a wall clock and an 8-piece limited edition Chronomètre Souverain, the Octa Chronographe received a unique dial treatment with white gold / grey center dial, and an outer seconds track, 60-second counter, and hour display in black with unique red lettering.
It is a fresh-to-market example, coming from the collection of the original owner, alongside the Chronomètre Souverain “Swiss FineTiming” from the same consignor (the next lot), with all its original accessories, preserved in outstanding, hardly ever worn condition.

F.P. Journe
Swiss | 1999Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.
Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
