Catalogue Essay
Unveiled in 2011, the F.P. Journe “Line Sport” collection was dedicated to achieving rigorous precision for sports activities. The Centigraphe Sport, in particular, is the first wristwatch ever made entirely of aluminium, a true technical marvel characterized by its patented engineering innovations and an astonishingly lightweight design of only 55 grams.

Reflecting Journe’s technical superiority and rigorous quality standards, the timepiece is powered by the in-house manual-wound movement caliber 1506, manufactured entirely from aluminium alloy. It provides intricate readings of 100th of a second alongside foudroyante (or lightning) seconds, 20 seconds and 10 minutes. Each subsidiary dial displays the time scale in red, with abbreviations of ‘S’, ‘M’, or ‘PR’ indicating seconds or minutes per revolution. The rocker stop and reset button allow the fingers to remain in the same position, eliminating the need to move back and forth between buttons as on a conventional chronograph.

Exclusively produced from 2011 to 2014, this model was later replaced by titanium versions in the lineage which makes aluminium examples even rarer and more collectible. The present example, with serial number 10, is likely the 10th ever produced and is preserved in “like-new” condition. Accompanied by its complete set of original accessories, it represents a delightful marriage of functional ergonomics and high-precision horology, offering a rare opportunity to acquire a milestone watch in the history of F.P. Journe.

F.P. Journe

Swiss | 1999
Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.

Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
