Catalogue Essay
Inspired by 19th-century pocket watches, the Chronomètre Souverain reimagines the traditional marine chronometer with a focus on precision. Launched in 2005, this model was the first wristwatch from F.P. Journe to feature a guilloché dial, beautifully paired with signature blued steel hands. It also earned the title of “Favorite Men’s Watch” at the GPHG awards. Powered by the in-house manually wound cal. 1304, the movement is crafted entirely from 18K pink gold and boasts a central twin barrel, providing a power reserve of 56 hours.
Merging comfort, innovation, and character, the current Chronomètre Souverain is presented in a warm tobacco brown known as “Havana”. This unique color, developed by Journe’s own dial maker, Les Cadraniers de Genève, is a blend of gold and ruthenium that underwent extensive refinement to achieve perfection. Housed in a discreet 40mm platinum case, the Chronomètre Souverain Havana features a Clous de Paris hobnail pattern on the dial, complemented by soft cream-colored hands and numerals, creating a harmonious aesthetic that captures the essence of Cuba.
Offered in excellent condition and complete with its original guarantee, an additional platinum buckle, and accessories, this timepiece is sure to appeal to the growing community of F.P. Journe enthusiasts and collectors.

F.P. Journe
Swiss | 1999Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.
Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.
