Produced from 1968 to 1975, the 61GS stood as the flagship model of Grand Seiko during that period. Built at the brand’s Suwa factory, it succeeded the 62GS and featured the advanced high-beat, self-winding Grand Seiko 6100 series movement.

The reference 6145-8030 is a celebration of Japanese craft, merging watchmaking with artistry. The movement is fitted with the automatic cal. 6145, a hi-beat movement with 36000 BPH. The reference 6145-8030 is distinguished by a hand-hammered texture across its case and a stunning "Kirazuri" champagne dial that features a stunning texture reminiscent of both tree bark and linen fabric. Most notably, the dial shifts its appearance pending on the light. From certain angles, it sparkles, and from others, it gives off a soft, matte yellow glow. Up close, the texture resembles the grain of tree bark. But under a loupe, the pattern transforms into a crisscross, linen-like weave. The case itself is also a work of art: the cases were initially pressed and polished, followed by a hand-finishing process to create the so-called “dental pattern,” an undulating surface that defines the design.
