Catalogue Essay
• The Reiseuhr, which means German for “travelling clock”, is a technically sophisticated and elegantly minimalist timepiece from the 1990s, born from the collaboration between IWC and Porsche Design. Two references were issued to distinguish the bracelet options: Ref. 3821, fitted with a glossy black Nappa leather strap, and Ref. 3822, like the present example, paired with a sleek third-generation titanium bracelet. Both models reflect the design purity and functional ethos that defined this era of innovation.

• Encased in a 40mm titanium case, the watch is powered by a quartz movement, delivering precision and reliability in a lightweight form. The engraved bezel features 24 world time zones, allowing the wearer to track global time with ease. Combined with Porsche Design’s clean, modern lines and the rhodium dial’s subtle metallic sheen, the 3822 offers a compelling blend of utility and style.

• While a variant of this reference features a yellow gold bezel for a more luxurious and dressier look, the present example’s version is often preferred by collectors and design purists. Its fully titanium construction maintains visual cohesion and stays true to the industrial, minimalist philosophy of Porsche Design. The uniformity of materials not only enhances durability but also contributes to the watch’s understated elegance and legibility, making it a timeless companion for those who value both form and function.
