Catalogue Essay
These images are based on pastel drawings the artist made in 1953.

His thoughts on 5/22/62 about this series:

I take the black album Nivola II which contains 50 pages of stenograms, drawings and signs harvested and graphise it, in a few hours, but come from all my life (by photos, other stenograms, notebooks, sketch-books, etc...) A life espressed by signs

The unit of a lifetime

My intention was therefore, at the end, to show this unity and to give its richness, by a text, perfectly independent of images, the freest, most active, most realistic text of = realities
