Catalogue Essay
- The result of the collaboration between Louis Erard and one of the most creative modern independent watchmakers: Konstantin Chaykin. The Time Eater II consists of a limited edition of 178 pieces in a 39mm case with black on black details with a red sapphire case back cyrstal, like the present example, and 178 pieces in a 42mm case with black on anthracite details and a blackened caseback crystal.
- The Time Eater II is inspired by the Wristmons of Konstantin Chaykin (a playful contraction of the words wrist and monster). This time depicting a grotesque-saw-mouthed cyclops inspired by the Slavic legend of the Likho, who has already been here once before, but this time he is angry.
- The hours are indicated via a rotating disc resembling an eye while the seconds at six are represented via a disc with pointed teeth, turning like the devouring mouth of an ogre. The minutes are indicated via a central hand made to look like the monster's hand.
-In virtually unworn condition, offered with no reserve and complete with its full set of accessories, the present Time Eater II 39mm is part of a limited edition if 178 pieces that was, as previous limited editions, sold out minutes after its official presentation.
