Catalogue Essay
- No longer in production, the Patek Philippe ref. 5960 was first launched in 2006 as the firm’s exciting inaugural attempt to deliver a fully in-house self-winding chronograph. On top of that, the Swiss manufacturer surprised collectors by merging an annual calendar function into the already complicated timepiece, resulting in a watch that nobody expected, but everyone desperately needed. Originally launched as a grey dial platinum sports watch, the reference was released in a few other precious metals such as pink and white gold.
- With a stainless steel case, the black dial ref. 5690/1A-010 is among the most coveted models, thanks to its short-lived one-year production (2017) and modern athletic aesthetic. With an irresistible design boasting distinct Patek Philippe proportions, the dial is highly legible as it optimizes a “bull’s eye” register that unifies the three traditionally separated calendar counters into one fan-shaped formation. Fusing form and function, the watch is complete with a power reserve indicator above the firm’s signature and a chronograph sub-dial with day/night indication.
- Please note the current black dial was mounted on the present watch on request from the client, the timepiece is accompanied by a service paper from Gubelin confirming this.
- Offered in excellent overall condition and accompanied by its original accessories, the present timepiece is the perfect everyday utility watch dedicated to the modern collectors.
