With tremendous emphasis and expertise in creating some of the finest jewelry timepieces, Piaget never fails to impress with its gem-set creations. Under Piaget's design ethos, a "simple" time-only watch can be transformed into a wearable piece of art through the art of gem setting and the harmonious combination of beautiful colors.

Festooned with baguette sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds, the present watch is a fabulous and stylish expression of Piaget's vision. Of all gemstones, emeralds are the most fragile, making emerald-set timepieces incredibly rare. Historically, brands have only embellished their most exclusive and hard-to-order watches with emeralds. As such, the present watch was most probably made upon special order or produced in extremely limited quantities, not available in Piaget's main catalog. One can imagine it was originally intended to be part of a set, with sapphire, ruby, or diamond bezel versions also available.

Adding to the flair of the bezel is the diamond-set dial, with eight baguette sapphires on each side, giving further sparkle and sophistication to the timepiece. One can only imagine the retail price of this watch in the 2000s, given such a complicated and intricate setting and design.

Piaget

Swiss | 1874

Creativity, audacity and know-how are the values that gave Piaget its international reputation and allowed the brand to distinguish itself in the world of fine watchmaking and precision. Founder Georges Edouard Piaget established the company in 1874 and manufactured watch movements. While Piaget is famously recognized today for their elaborate wristwatch and bangle designs, they also mastered the marriage of their high-quality, in-house-produced wristwatches and stunning pieces of jewelry.

Collectors consider the 1970s as Piaget's era of superb creativity and unbounded designs. During this highly creative period, the brand designed an impressive range of cuff and bracelet watches carved in gold and adorned with exotic hard stones. Admired by most as not only jewelry but also true works of art, the firm's hard stone dial watches remain the most iconic, recognizable and desirable among collectors.
