Catalogue Essay
The Roger Dubuis Hommage Condottieri, introduced in the mid-1990s, stands as a defining statement of the watchmaker’s philosophy and craftsmanship. Created shortly after Dubuis launched his own brand, following four decades of experience at Longines and Patek Philippe, the Condottieri reflects a return to traditional Genevan watchmaking values. It features a snow-white fired enamel dial with painted Roman numerals and blued leaf hands, all housed in a substantial 18K white gold 40mm case.
At its heart is the calibre RD27, a reworked vintage Tavannes pocket watch movement. Dubuis meticulously modified these new-old-stock calibres to meet the standards of the Geneva Seal, adding refined finishing touches such as Geneva stripes, anglage, polished screws, and a Breguet overcoil. Each watch was also regulated by Dubuis himself to meet the stringent requirements of the Observatoire National de Besançon, with certification papers presented on oversized parchment, underscoring the watch’s precision and pedigree.
This early example is presented in excellent condition and is accompanied by its original accessories.
