Nestled within the exquisite curved case, the dial exudes sophistication, showcasing a subtle grey railway minute track against a refined grey backdrop. The black sword-shaped hands perfectly complement the dial, creating a visually stunning contrast within the shimmering platinum case. Adding a touch of historical charm, the beaded winding crown is adorned with a ruby cabochon—a signature feature often found on Cartier’s platinum watches. While the present reference is available in additional configurations, including a pink gold case with a black dial and a yellow gold case with a golden dial, the combination of platinum and grey is widely regarded as the most alluring.

Powering this remarkable timepiece is the oval-shaped manual calibre 8971MC, derived from the Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 846. Notable for its compact size and versatility, this movement fits seamlessly into the slender case, measuring only 6.95mm thick while boasting an impressive 38-hour power reserve.

Numbered 36 in a limited edition of just 100 pieces, this example is offered with its complete set of accessories and remains in excellent condition. This is a rare opportunity to enhance any fine watch collection with such a superbly elegant timepiece, one not to be overlooked.

Cartier

French
With the Constitution of 1848 came a new standard for luxury in France. Founded one year prior by Louis-Francois Cartier, the house of Cartier was one of the first to use platinum in jewelry making. This incredibly expensive material became the stepping-stone for Cartier to experiment in form, mechanisms and attitude. It helped men move from pocket watches to wristwatches, effectively making the watch much more functional and prominent in a man's overall wardrobe.Cartier did not only touch on functionality. Inspired by a commissioned painting by George Barbier featuring a black panther at the feet of an elegantly bejeweled woman, Cartier began incorporating wild animals in his designs—most notably, Cartier Panthère rings, bangle bracelets and watches. Yet it wasn't until the late 1960s that the house of Cartier debuted their iconic yellow and rose gold LOVE collection, which includes the famous bracelet that only a special screwdriver can open.
