Within the vintage watches collecting community, there are trophy timepieces considered to be the culmination of any collection, and the Patek Philippe reference 1463 chronograph is worthy of this honor. Released in circa 1940, and produced for the next 25 years, the model was the earliest vintage waterproof chronograph wristwatch serially produced by Patek Philippe. One can say that reference 1463 was Patek Philippe’s first sports chronograph designed for a modern society with an increasing interest in outdoor activities.

The ref. 1463 is not only functionally competent, but also aesthetically compelling. The majestic grandeur of the 18K pink gold case and buckle is the ultimate proof that good taste never goes out of style. Atop the grand and sophisticated two-tone dial, the present example comprises of elegant dauphine hands as well as glossy hour markers. Few examples of Patek Philippe's ref. 1463 watches have such a fine aesthetics, and the present pink gold example in excellent condition is potently charismatic.

The majority of reference 1463 watches were cased in yellow gold, although some were cased in steel and even more scarce were examples in pink gold — such as the present timepiece. The archival information from the manufacturer confirms that the watch was produced in 1952. Preserved in wondrous condition, this remarkable example offers unparalleled exclusivity and beauty, and is deserving of a prominent position in any important collection.
