Hong Kong Sessions Fall 2024: A Round-Up of Jaeger-LeCoultre Reversos

Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo is excited to announce The Hong Kong Sessions, Fall 2024, online auction, taking place from 12:00 PM HKT, Friday, September 20, to 2:00 PM HKT, Friday, September 27. Featuring more than 135 different high-end luxury wristwatches, the sale covers everything from A. Lange & Söhne and F.P. Journe to Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. It even includes the multiple Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso wristwatches featured in this article.


Lot 8068: A circa 1993 Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tourbillon Ref. 270.2.68 in 18k pink gold

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is an icon cherished by men and women alike. To celebrate its 60th anniversary in 1991, the maison released a six-model limited series encapsulating great complications in larger cases with sapphire casebacks.

Lot 8068: A circa 1993 Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tourbillon Ref. 270.2.68 in 18k pink gold that's included in the Phillips Watches Hong Kong Sessions, Fall 2024, Online Auction. Estimate: HKD $120,000 - 200,000

This Reverso Tourbillon launched in 1993 as number 83 of 500 limited edition pieces in precious pink gold. Within the rectangular reversible case, an engine-turned dial is distinguished by a classic dial, while the reverse bears a sapphire crystal unveiling the admirable tourbillon carriage along with a power reserve indicator.

Preserved in excellent condition, this magnificent Reverso Tourbillon represents a prized treasure for Jaeger-LeCoultre collectors.

Lot 8069: A Circa 1991 Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Soixantième Ref. 270.2.64 in 18k Pink Gold

The swivelling design of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso was radically innovative in both its fundamental concept and the engineering of the intricate mechanism that enabled the case to be functional and a joy to pivot for its wearer since 1931. In 1991, six decades after the game changing Reverso was born, Jaeger-LeCoultre embraced the model’s full potential with the introduction of complications with the 60th anniversary model.

That year, the launch of the Reverso Soixantième was the perfect statement timepiece to coincide with the rebirth of mechanical watchmaking out of the mist of the turbulent period of the quartz crisis. No longer limited to time-only movements, the Reverso Soixantième was made entirely by hand and was produced with a limited edition of 500 pieces only worldwide.

Featuring a 18K pink gold Grande Taille case, the timepiece features date, small seconds and power reserve. Powered by the entirely new calibre 824, a proud fresh chapter for the brand, the movement is displayed on the reserve side where all finishing of its plates and bridges can be admired. Numbered 228 from the limited edition, this present timepiece is kept in an amazing “new-old-stock” condition and retains its original stickers throughout. A very classic representation of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, the collection has stood as the brand's flagship model since its debut in the early 1930s. The present Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duoface in pink gold showcases a dual time function, complemented by small seconds on one side and a 24-hour register on the other.

As a flagship for Jaeger-LeCoultre, the iconic Reverso embraced precious incarnations over its storied lineage. This 2000s model distinguishes itself through a sleek white gold case and a captivating black and grey Duoface dial. Lumed hands glide over stylized Arabic indexes with elegant day and night indicaton on one side, and a 24-hour indication on the reverse with guilloché patterns. Within lies the manual-wind cal. 854 with 45 hours of power reserve.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso's rectangular silhouette remains one of the most distinctive case shapes in watchmaking. Blending sophistication with ingenious functional design, the Reverso has stood as Jaeger-LeCoultre's flagship model since its 1930s debut.

Launched in 1995, this limited edition was produced in a total of 50 pieces: 30 in yellow gold and 20 in white gold. One side displays elegant small seconds and a clean guilloché dial - perfect for daytime elegance. The reverse reveals a beautifully engraved scenery of Switzerland. Decorated with 40 diamonds (0.16 carat), a skyline of the famous Geneva City with the famous Geneva fountain and the Catherdral Saint-Pierre can be found on its reverse.

Preserved in excellent condition by its original owner over the years, this remains a collector’s piece that celebrates the art of watchmaking.
